My Idea

HIV: USA - is a collaborative effort of several HIV+ people who gave their permission to share a very intimate part of their life, by ignoring stigma, HIV: USA sheds light on the reality of living with the virus that causes AIDS. It is meant to give hope and inspire others to come together in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

HIV:RI

There is a new holding website up that I hope to update in the future.  It's for HIV-RI the offspring project of HIV:NYC and the second project under the HIV:USA umbrella.  Check it out!

HIV:NYC

I am very, very pleased to announce that there is a new website to promote the upcoming documentary/video project titled HIV:NYC.  As things progress, we plan to submit to film festivals and are open to suggestions.  This project has been a true labor of love - with several people involved, without whom, this would have never seen the light of day.  There have been some amazing folks who have agreed to share moments of their life and respectfully, I cannot wait to share them with you - in the very near, near future.  In the meantime, check out the website as it is continually updated.

Cheers,

Jason

Short Documentary Film Needs Support 3-27-09

I'm currently working on a documentary.  I've been working with some very awesome people.  I'll break it down like this:

As an HIV Health Educator, I facilitate a monthly educational group.  I had a plan and an Idea to do a creative project with people living with HIV/AIDS for sometime and in January restructured the group to meet weekly as a writing group.  The amazing thing is that participants have been able to address their situation is ways that they never have before and it's very emotional and powerful to see these folks in an environment that isn't so clinical and empowering focusing on their creative and emotional needs.

Some letters, drama and time passed and I managed to solicit Gallison/Mudpuppy for some journals, Kodak for some Super 8mm Film, Poets and Writers for a small workshop grant.

A few weeks ago, filming began and participants are sharing their stories created in the group.  So far there are 4 videos and 4 more writing classes to inspire with hopes to have 7-10 videos.  The project so far is roughly 10 min and NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT.

You can donate through PayPal on my website...I hope to have a trailer up and submit this powerful and emotional work to film festivals and am currently seeking distribution.
After my trip to San Francisco, I learned many things.  One of them giving me the idea for a cell phone download and continue using technology for health and social change.
If you have some ideas to share please send me an email.

Kind Regards,

Jason Wilder Evans

52 songs, 52 weeks, 1 Year

I have a bunch of things planned this new year and I hope that I don't wear my self out.  I'm planning on writing 52 songs this year.  One each week.  I will then post them on my website and on myspace and eventually figure out how to package them for downloading and figure out a way for you to subscribe and get information once a new song is posted.  If you know how please email me and give me some insight.  Otherwise just come over to my website every week and check out the new song.

The first song is called "Blaming Me".

I'm going to do my best to put songs up on FRIDAYS...Stay tuned...

Thanks and Happy New Year

Mod Reviews

“Modmylife is so amazingly uncomfortable it’s wonderful”.
- Josh Lowensohn, webware

The Web site]’s pretty interesting, and it definitely has the potential to be funny, it almost sounds like an anthropological study.”
- Yale University, Jennifer James ’08.”

"Just when you thought reality TV had gotten about as real as real was worth, in step the guys at Mod My LIfe". - Josh Spear

“There should be an Oscar or something for this kind of thing. On the one hand its an obvious evolution of reality TV. On the other hand, there is something deeply subversive about how it operates. The actor ends up playing editor/director to a open ended community of democratic script writers”. - lastandnext

“Digg meets Subservient Chicken”.
- Valleywag

“Modmylife is an awesome website”.
- xboxbar.com

I expect the Web site would appeal to a large core of students - especially “reality show fanatics.”
Yale University - Presca Ahn ’09

So let’s summarize: hidden camera, user-submitted actions, unknowing third-party participants. Yeah, that sounds like a recipe for entertainment no matter how you slice it. And I’m sure your minds are already rolling through a hundred different submission ideas, so head to Mod My Life Thursdays at 8:00 pm EST to check it out.
